About the blog:

Well, hello!
Thanks for stopping by to read my opinions about movies that I see. Some are older and most are new. Some I go to see in the theaters (both live performances and movies) and some I watch from the comfort of my own couch and even more, I will watch from the amazing Netflix app.
Of course, these will be my personal thoughts about the targeted item, however, it will give you an idea of whether it's a colossal waste of time or worth a shot!

The STORY:

For nineteen-year-old Jay, Autumn should be about school, boys and week-ends out at the lake. But after a seemingly innocent sexual encounter, she finds herself plagued by strange visions and the inescapable sense that someone, something, is following her. Faced with this burden, Jay and her friends must find a way to escape the horrors, that seem to be only a few steps behind

MY REVIEW:
This was surprising. I wasn't expecting much based on the movies these days and whats passing for a scary movie. THIS was a movie, finally, that seemed to be made for fans of the horror genre. Let's just say, YOU SHOULD SEE THIS MOVIE!! The right pieces fit together in the perfect way!

What I loved:

  1. Very light on the jump-scares. I typically enjoy those, but this movie was good without a ton. It was psychological.
  2. Music and Atmosphere was absolutely perfect! Outstanding cinematography.
  3. Simple plot that seemed unique.. an odd game of tag with some twisted ruled and disturbing consequesces.
  4. The seventies-esque feel is remarkably fitting and the dialog is simple and heavy synthetic music is deeply relevant to the movie.
  5. The ending was spot on!!

What wasn't sold on:

  1. The actors. I am not sure if it wasn't a directorial choice to go with this calibre of actor. All were decent, but not great. I do think they were able to sell the story. Typical teens doing typical teen things with emotion kind of off center.

Evita

MY REVIEW:

This was a performance put on by the Governor's School for the Arts Musical Theater Department. (http://www.gsarts.net)

Just knowing that some of these students were younger than 15 and performing a wonderful story such as Evita with the fervor and thoughtfulness was the most amazing. These high school students were absolutely amazing in telling the story of Evita Peron.

Originally, an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, it tells the story of a young Argentine woman's early life, rise to power, charity work and eventual death.

The staging was a work of art and the acting/singing was well above par. I was lucky to have been able to see this wonderful musical!
